Sibling Rivalry Includes 30-Somethings Spitting: Blotters

A 39-year-old Westlake woman reported that her 36-year-old brother spat at her on the evening of July 12.

The spitter missed his sibling, but the saliva landed on her car. The two households have been feuding for several months, with this latest confrontation taking place on Main Street. The Westlake City Prosecutor will review the report for possible charges.

A purse was stolen from a North Olmsted woman’s car at Clague Park on July 11 in the early afternoon. An unknown suspect broke a passenger side window on her 2013 Nissan Pathfinder to get it. To date, no illicit use of her four credit cards or checks has been detected. 

An employee of a Detroit Road restaurant was duped into paying a phony $500 “past due electric bill” on July 11. A phone call from an unknown suspect threatened to shut off the power at 5 p.m. if the money was not loaded onto a Green Dot Money Pak (a reloadable debit cards) and the card number given to a female at a 419 area code number.

The employee did as she was told, then called CEI and was advised that she had been scammed. 

Westlake Police said readers should be extremely wary of any offer or calls that involve the use of Green Dot MoneyPaks.
