Poets of Lakeside Emergency Men's Shelter To Read At Sunday Sounds

The men will give readings at Porter Public Library after a service and luncheon at Westlake United Methodist Church.

Sunday Sounds at Westlake Porter Public Library is taking a break from the regular musical programming to highlight the work of the Poets of 2100 Lakeside Emergency Men's Shelter. Facilitator Annie Holden and two or three poets will tell their own stories and read selections of their works at 2 p.m. Sunday. In the spring, the shelter published a soft-bound booklet of poetry, and a full book is in publication right now, said Nancy Fester, programs chair for Friends of Westlake Porter Public Library. The book should be out before Christmas. Prior to their reading at the library, Westlake United Methodist Church will honor the men at their 11:21 a.m. service with a lunch following.

Historical Marker Dedication, Storytime and More

1) The Westlake Historical Society and city officials will be joined by the Ohio Historical Society for a historic marker dedication at Evergreen Cemetery at 6 p.m. tonight. A plaque will be dedicated to Leverett Johnson, one of Westlake's original settlers and donor of the cemetery land. Here are five things you should know today.

1) Kids ages 10 to 18 can come down to Porter Public Library for Wii Wednesdays at 4 p.m. this afternoon. Each week, the library will feature a different video game. 2) Today will be partly sunny with a high near 70 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Band of Westlake Brothers Sells Songs on iTunes

Two songs are available from Westlake's own Lumpia after the trio won the Porter Public Library Battle of the Bands.

People all over the world can now download original songs from a Westlake band of brothers. Guitarist PJ, drummer John Paul and bassist Max make up the band Lumpia, winners of the first Porter Public Library Battle of the Bands. The trio won eight hours of recording time and now have two songs— Midnight Blues and Kill Screen— for sale on iTunes.
