Back to School Party, Teen Movie and More

Here are five things you should know today.

1) The Boneyard is hosting a back to school party from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight. Kids ages 12 and under get a free meal with the purchase of every adult meal. Cartoons will be on the TV and magician Justin Who will be performing. 2) The Recreation Center is hosting the last Fly Casting class of the season tonight at 6:30 p.m. Fishers of all abilities (ages 10 and up) will learn helpful tips and advice on casting. Rods and reels are provided if you don't have your own. 3) Westlake Porter Public Library is continuing its Teen Movie series with a showing of Prom tonight at 6:30 p.m. Come on down for some free entertainment! 4) Today looks like another beauty with mostly sunny skies and a high near 78 degrees, according to the National Weather …

Snapshot: It's All in the Wrist

Fishing pro Owen Murphy offered a few lessons and fundamentals to his angling students.

Owen Murphy, co-owner of the Ohio Steelhead Drifters guide company, gave a free lesson in fly casting, which is fun but far from easy, at Westlake Recreation Center Tuesday evening. The fishing pro literally showed a few of his students the ropes, and worked with their fundamentals and form.

Fly Casting, Little House on the Prairie and More!

Here are five things you should know today.

1) Westlake Recreation Center is hosting a one-day class on fly casting today from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The class teaches basic to advanced skills and instructor Owen Murphy work with casters of all experiences. Rods and reels will be provided if you don't have your own. Fishers must be 10 years or older. The next fly casting class will be held Aug. 30. 2) Westlake Porter Public Library is hosting a Little House on the Prairie party from 2 to 3:30 p.m. for kids ages 7 through 12. The free event features old-fashioned games, crafts and homemade ice cream. 1) Today is Flag Day, which originated back in 1885. On June 14, 1891, the Betsy Ross House held a Flag Day celebration in Philadelphia, and on June 14, 1892, the New York Society of the Sons of the Revolution celebrated Flag Day for the first time.
