Accused Burglar, Heroin Addict Still in Jail

Stephen Zywotek of Avon Lake also faces drug trafficking charges in Lorain County

One of the four people arrested for the break-in and burglary of a Glenbrook Court home earlier this month remains in jail. Stephen Zywotek, 25, of Avon Lake, is in the Cuyahoga County jail as of Tuesday evening on $20,000 bond. He is also currently under indictment in Lorain County Court of Common Pleas on a charge of drug trafficking, and there are charges against him in Avon Lake Municipal Court for possession of drug paraphernalia, possessing drug abuse instruments and speeding. Chelsea Alurovic, also 25 and from Avon Lake, spent three days in jail before her $20,000 bond was posted on Nov. 19.  Zywotek and Alurovic, both described by Westlake Police as heroin addicts, were arrested after an investigation of the Nov. 12 break-in. UPDATE: Heroin Addicts Charged in Home Burglaries

The following information was provided by the Westlake Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Updated 9:11 a.m. Two Avon Lake residents and two accomplices were charged after a home break-in on Glenbrook Court. Chelsea Alurovic and Stephen Zywotek, both 25 and from Avon Lake, are facing drug and burglary charges in connection with the Nov. 12 incident. They are in the Cuyahoga County jail along with Matthew Graff, 24, of Cleveland, who is being charged with complicity to burglary charges. Another accomplice, Doran Sutphin, 33, of Cleveland, was arrested Monday afternoon. He is being charged with burglary and is also at the Cuyahoga County jail. The home was broken into through the side door in the garage. The resident discovered that jewelry and prescription drugs had been taken. Westlake Police found out that an unfamiliar red …

Police Blotter: Bicentennial Signs Go Missing, Drunk Driver Leads Police on Highway Chase

Bicentennial Signs Go Missing Since this spring, five Welcome to Westlake signs celebrating the city’s bicentennial have bee taken from various locations at the city limits. The signs are valued at $176 each and are sized either 42 inches by 36 inches or 30 inches by 28 inches. If anyone has information on where they might be, contact the Westlake Police Department at 440-871-3311. School Rivalry Suspected As Cause for Rock Through Car Window After the Westlake High School football game against Bay Village Sept. 2, someone threw a rock at a car driven by a 17-year-old Bay Village boy. Police Blotter: Stolen Motorcycle, Home Break-In

Bed Edger Stolen On Downing Street A landscaper reported his bed edger stolen while it was left unattended on Downing Street July 1. The owner suspects the occupants of a blue Ford F-150 pulling a trailer that was seen in the area. The theft was reported July 5. Motorcycle Stolen From Giant Eagle Lot The owner of a Honda motorcycle reported it stolen from the Giant Eagle parking lot at about 8 p.m. July 1. The owner parked it about 15 minutes earlier. The motorcycle is valued at $8,500. Home Break-In on Southbridge Circle A safe was taken from a home office on Southbridge Circle the night of July 1. The safe, which contained two checkbooks and personal papers, was dragged down the driveway to a waiting vehicle. Costume jewelry was also …

Police Blotter: A Bad Case of Road Rage, Shoplifting and More

Shoplifting at Marc’s Marc’s security detained a 60-year-old Avon Lake man for stealing $97 worth of merchandise at about 5:30 p.m. June 28. The man had pushed his cart out of the store without stopping at the cash register. He faces charges of theft and trespass. He was released later that day. Car Windows Broken Overnight A Westwood Road resident heard a thump outside of her home at about 4 a.m. June 29. When she went outside at 9 a.m., she found that the windows on her two Hondas were broken, probably by a piece of concrete found inside one of the care.The damage is estimated at $750. Police have no suspects. Break-in on West Hedgewood Drive Four watches and a ring were taken from a West Hedgewood Drive home some time between 5 and 6 p.…
