State tournament marks the end of Paul's high school career.
Demon Logan Paul placed 5th in the OHSAA State Championships this past weekend. Competing in the 182-pound class, Paul ended his high school career at the Ohio State meet in Columbus on Saturday, March 3. This weekend’s trip was the second to states for Paul, who also competed last year, but didn’t place. “Winning my last high school match means a ton. Our coaches told me that if I’m going to go out, go out a winner,” Paul told the Morning Journal. Fans were able to follow Paul’s progress on the Westlake High School Wrestling Facebook page. On March 2, he earned a win to guarantee him at least a sixth-place finish. Saturday’s win cemented a place on the podium. Paul was given a rousing send-off on Feb. 27 from Westlake High School.

Senior is Columbus bound for second straight year.
Westlake High students took a break Feb. 27 to send off one of their own to states. As is the tradition in the school, athletes going to represent Westlake in the OHSAA State Tournament get a rousing sendoff through the school, complete with a marching band, cheerleaders and following in the rear—state qualifier Logan Paul. His mother and father, Greg Paul and Pam Stepnick were there, snapping photos before Logan and his coaches headed to Columbus. Paul, a senior, will represent his high school for the last time in Columbus this week. He is going into the tournament with a 34-2 record. This marks Paul’s second trip to states in two years. Last year as a state qualifier he didn’t place, but his coach, Mike Antonyzyn, thinks this is the …

Crowds can watch both at the same time Friday at 7 p.m.
The gymnasts are the beauty in this off-Broadway story. Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School will host the fourth annual Beauty and the Beast event, a combined gymnastics and wrestling competition, at 7 p.m. Friday. The event highlights “two outstanding programs,” said Brecksville-Broadview Heights Athletic Director Dan Kalinsky. The Demon gymnasts will take on the 10-time championship winning Bees and Magnificat during the fourth annual event. Kalinsky said the Brecksville-Broadview Heights gymnastics team hasn’t lost a competition since 2003, and the wrestling team hasn’t lost a dual meet in the Southwestern Conference since they were accepted in 2005. Bees wrestlers will face Amherst in a dual meet while gymnasts take to the floor…

Alex Busser's pin gives Demons two-point win over Lakewood, 138-136.
In the end, it took a pin to find out who would be champion in the 37th Columbia Wrestling Tournament on Saturday. The match at Columbia Station had one of its toughest fields ever, but Westlake's Alex Busser (285 pounds) pinned Elyria Catholic’s Dave Smith in 1:21 to claim the third place championship and hand the Demons a slim two-point victory (138- 136) over Lakewood. The Demons won the team crown with just one individual champion: Zac Goodman. Goodman, who has wrestled only a year at 103 pounds, pinned John Goff of Lakewood with 9 seconds left in the third period. The Demons also battled without standout and top-seed Steve Robb at 140 pounds. Robb, a Lorain Holiday tournament champion, failed to reach the third place round. Demons …
