Great Sledding at Recreation Center Park

Kids and families spend an afternoon of fun on the hill behind Westlake Recreation Center.

The snow between Christmas and New Year's created some awesome sledding conditions for the big hill at Recreation Center Park. A few dozen children, teens and parents were there on Wednesday afternoon. All the sledding already done has packed the snow down nicely, making the ride down fast and fun. How have you been enjoying the winter break? Sledding? Making snowmen or snow angels? Share your photos! Click the "Upload photos and video button" to get started.

Tuesday's rally featuring Republican vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan was arranged over this past weekend, Westlake mayor Dennis Clough said Tuesday. Clough, who spoke at the rally ahead of Ryan, said he was contacted by a representative of the Romney/Ryan campaign on Friday, and a meeting was held late that afternoon. "We went through possible sites where we could hold a rally, what they would need," Clough said.  Saturday morning, shortly after he was the top finisher in the 2-mile walk at the North Coast Challenge, he got word that the campaign had selected the Westlake Recreation Center for the rally. People fail to grasp what a slippery slope it is when the government or a religious group can make decisions about other adult citizens' living bodies. You might not like where that road takes us. Careful -- someone might annex your…   more ›
