Man Receives Threatening Calls From Overseas

The Lakewood man, who works in Westlake, said the callers threatened to ruin his credit and make him lose his job

A man who lives in Lakewood but works in Westlake received harassing phone calls on his cell phone and business phone on Monday (Feb. 11). The calls came from overseas and they demand a $300 payment. The callers threatened that if they were not paid, they would have the man arrested, make him lose his job and ruin his credit. The callers knew the victim's social security number and his former address. Westlake Police advised the victim to contact the Federal Trade Commission and the three major credit bureaus for assistance with identity theft threats. The victim said the the caller had a heavy South Asian or Indian accent. Another man in Westlake reported receiving threatening calls from a man with a similar accent recently. In that …

Sexual Imposition At Detroit Convenient Food Mart A 31-year-old Westlake woman reported that she was groped by Dixit Kumar Patel, an employee of the Detroit Road Convenient Food Mart on May 16 at 6 p.m. Patel, 52, of Westlake, followed her to the rear of the store where the offense took place. After hugging and fondling her, the victim alerted the police and Patel was arrested for sexual imposition. He was released on bond and faces trial on Wednesday May 25.   Mother May Have Gone A Step Too Far With Daughter The City Prosecutor will decide if any charges will be filed related to a domestic violence incident between a 41-year-old woman and her 15-year-old daughter. Westlake Boy’s Tantrum Leads To Assault On Police Officer It took two officers to restrain a 17-year-old Westlake boy after his parents called police for help. The boy had been throwing things around the house in the 30600 block of Mallard Cove. The suspect kicked one officer and made threats against the others. He faces charges of assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, menacing and possession of a controlled substance for a prescription pill found in his bedroom. Police took the boy to the Juvenile Detention Home early the next morning. Westlake Police Blotter: Detectives Investigating Recent Burglaries

Officers stop two men trying to charge a woman for her own cell phone.

Con Gone Wrong Police arrested two Cleveland men at 4:24 p.m. Jan. 6 after they tried to demand $50 for returning a woman’s cell phone. The two men set up a meeting with the woman’s cousin in the 27300 block of Detroit Road to return the lost phone. Officers were stationed in the area and found the two men in a black Plymouth. Police charged the 55-year-old man with receiving stolen property, attempted theft, possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and carrying various weapons for a stun gun found in the car. He also had a warrant out from the Euclid Police Department. So he did so on the side of the BP gas station at 29775 Clemens Rd. He could easily be seen from the gas pumps and by a passing patrolman.
