The Westlake Police Department has helpful tips if you encounter a coyote.
Would you know what to do if you encountered a coyote in Westlake? The Westlake Police Department has offered helpful tips for residents if they encounter the wolf-like creatures. Commonly found in Westlake, they usually roam around at night in packs of four to eight, feeding on small animals, insects and fruit. They are helpful in controlling the deer population and other animal nuisances. The forum is set to discuss voter education on regionalism and collaboration.
Westlake Mayor Dennis Clough will be speaking at a League of Women Voters forum on April 16. It is the second of three voter education forums on regionalization and collaboration at the Dwyer Senior Center in Bay Village. Clough will discuss the history andbackground of the Westshore Council on Government (WCOG), according to a press release. Lakewood Mayor Mike Summers will discuss current issues and collaborations’ that concern the WCOG and future plans and collaborations of the group. WCOG Finance Officer Steve Presley will discuss the operation of WCOG. Audience questions areencouraged after the speakers’ comments. After making an appearance in the 2012 Summer Olympics, Shumway was nominated for an award at the 2012 Greater Cleveland Sports Awards.
Westlake native Margot Shumway was recently nominated for Amateur Athlete of the Year award, but sadly did not come home with the prize. Shumway was a nominee at the 2012 Greater Cleveland Sports Awards Thursday night, losing to Tianna (Madison) Bartoletta, from Elyria. Shumway has been a member of the USA Rowing team for six years and finished third in the double sculls at the National Selection Regatta No. 2, advancing to the Final Olympic Qualification Regatta. She finished first there and made her way to the 2012 Olympic Games in London. However, she finished sixth in the double sculls race.
