Snapshot: Youth Challenge Carwash

Participants, volunteers, staff and parents got soapy for a good cause.

Campers, volunteers, parents and staff joined in the Youth Challenge carwash on Sunday morning, raising funds for summer programming. The teens had just finished their annual overnight with swimming, canoeing and a campfire, said Program Director Ken Kasler.

This young Westlake couple devotes their professional energy and passion to getting kids active and healthy.

If you’re looking for a way to get your kids moving this summer, you need to meet Paul “Theo” Theodore, and his wife, Amber. They are the muscle behind what they’re calling Westlake’s first summer fitness camp designed specifically for kidlets. The 20-something couple - owners of group and personal training company Fit Me Up - is kicking off the first of its two four-week sessions for kids ages 4-18 on June 13 at Grace Baptist Church on Center Ridge Road. Their mighty mission? To get kids engaged in physical activity and get them healthy. Patch Picks: Local Summer Camps

Westlake Patch takes a look at five local summer camps that will keep your kids busy all season long.

1) Camp Jam This national day camp holds sessions in major cities all over the United States, including Cleveland.  With overnight camps for kids 12 to 17 years old and day camps for children 7 and up, kids can sing, dance, strum and drum their way to a rockin’ summer. Camp Jam’s multiple curriculum rock 'n roll program, which was put together by several platinum-selling rock artists, teaches kids about music techniques and stage presence, grooming each participant into a bona-fide rock star.
