Logan Paul Heads to States With a Sendoff and a Shiner

Senior is Columbus bound for second straight year.

Westlake High students took a break Feb. 27 to send off one of their own to states. As is the tradition in the school, athletes going to represent Westlake in the OHSAA State Tournament get a rousing sendoff through the school, complete with a marching band, cheerleaders and following in the rear—state qualifier Logan Paul. His mother and father, Greg Paul and Pam Stepnick were there, snapping photos before Logan and his coaches headed to Columbus. Paul, a senior, will represent his high school for the last time in Columbus this week. He is going into the tournament with a 34-2 record. This marks Paul’s second trip to states in two years. Demons Make State Baseball Finals

Anyone else getting goosebumps? The Westlake High School baseball team has delivered a dream season in longtime coach Jeff Short's final year with the Demons. And now they can send him out with a state championship. Westlake (24-6) will play for the Division I state title after beating Massillon-Perry, 6-2, in Thursday's semifinal at Huntington Park in Columbus. The Demons will play Cincinnati-Archbishop Moeller (25-5) at 1 p.m. Saturday at Huntington Park. Archbishop Moeller beat Grove City, 3-2, in the other semifinal Thursday night. Tickets for Saturday's state final are $8. There are no advance sales, and no discounts for students or seniors. Paid parking is available near the stadium. Demon Pride as Westlake Goes to States

The Westlake High baseball team got a rousing send-off as it left Thursday morning to play in the OHSAA Baseball Championships in Columbus. Students from all Westlake City Schools came outside to cheer on the Demons as the bus carrying the team drove by each school. The Demons (21-6) play Massillon-Perry (19-10) in a Division I semifinal at 4 p.m. Thursday at Huntington Park in Columbus. If Westlake wins, it will play for the state title at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at Huntington Park Heading down to the game? Share your photos of the game and all the fun here!
