Mother Turns Herself In, Faces Felony Charges For Abandoning Baby

Brettany Walton was transferred to Cuyahoga County Jail Tuesday and is facing a felony child endangerment charge.

Brettany Walton, who is suspected of abandoning her 1-year-old son while shoplifting with two other girls, turned herself in to Westlake police at 11:15 a.m. Saturday. Police say the 19-year-old mother left her sleeping son in a stroller after hitting several stores at Crocker Park Nov. 26. Officers arrested two 15-year-old girls from Cleveland and Garfield Heights for receiving stolen property, obstructing official business, complicity and child endangerment after police found them with bags of stolen goods including clothing, accessories, toiletries, hair extensions and earphones. Mother Wanted For Alleged Abandonment of Baby While Shoplifting

Police say Brettany Walton, 19, refused to pick up her child from Children's Services after leaving him at Crocker Park.

Warrants have been issued for the arrest of 19-year-old Brettany Walton, who is suspected of abandoning her 1-year-old son while shoplifting with two other girls at Crocker Park Nov. 26. Westlake police arrested two 15-year-old girls from Cleveland and Garfield Heights for receiving stolen property, obstructing official business, complicity and child endangerment after police found them with bags of stolen goods including clothing, accessories, toiletries, hair extensions and earphones from several Crocker Park stores on Nov. 26. Police also found with them a 1-year-old boy asleep in a stroller. The girls told police that two unknown girls had stolen the merchandise and left the bags, and that they had no idea who the boy’s parents were. …

Police Blotter: Underage Party, Grocery Store Shoplifting and More

Police Break Up Party, Charge 18 for Underage Drinking Police broke up an underage drinking party at about 10:30 p.m. Oct. 29. Officers got a tip from a caller who reported seeing people coming in and out of a garage door at a business on Sharon Drive, and found 30 Westlake teenagers inside. Police found that 18 of the kids under 18 had been drinking and turned them over to their parents. They, and an 18-year-old Westlake man, will face charges for underage consumption. The other teens were sent on their way after their parents were notified. Police also found that the business belongs to the grandfather of a 17-year-old party-goer who had the keys to the building. Police Blotter: Wild Turkey Flies Through Window, Bra Bandit Hits Victoria's Secret

Wild Turkey Flies Through Window A patrol officer saw a wild turkey fly into a second-story window on Viking Parkway at about 11:30 a.m. Oct. 15. The bird broke the glass, and then flew off. Police notified the building keyholder. Bra Bandit Strikes Victoria’s Secret Victoria’s Secret employees noticed four bras and 45 pairs of panties worth $745 were missing at about 5 p.m. Oct. 17. Employees didn’t see who took them, but noticed that the stocked shelves were suddenly empty. Copper Wire Goes Missing Seven reels of copper wire were found missing at about 8 a.m. Oct. 17. Locks had been cut off of two trailers at a Crocker Road construction site over the previous weekend. Police have no suspects. Hospital Patient Reports Missing Medications…

Police Blotter: Girls Try to Hide from Officers under SUV

Bay Village police helped Westlake officers catch a pair of copper thieves.

Police Arrest Two Copper Thieves A passing patrolman saw two suspected copper thieves running from a Sperry Drive business at 8:30 p.m. May 9. Bay Village officers stopped the 21-year-old Lorain woman and the 36-year-old man from Sullivan, OH when they entered Bay Village. Westlake officers searched the Sperry Drive building and found that the door had been forced open. Nearly all of the cooper wire inside had been stripped from the walls and loaded into garbage cans and bags. Both suspects are now in Cuyahoga County Jail and will be charged with breaking and entering, possession of criminal tools for having crowbars and theft. Police Blotter: Tracks In Snow Lead Officers To Suspected Thieves

A woman's coworker stole cash from her purse and two girls got arrested for stealing in this week's police incidents.

Police Follow Tracks For Nearly Two Hours To Find Suspected Thieves A Chestnut Drive resident noticed footprints in his driveway near his two unlocked cars at about 2:30 a.m. March 11. He found that both had been rummaged through. Officers from Westlake, North Olmsted and Rocky River tracked the footprints through yards, businesses, streets and sidewalks in Westlake and North Olmsted for nearly two hours. Police found that suspects had gone through many unlocked cars. The tracks led officers to an apartment in the block of 4800 block of Columbia Road in North Olmsted. Westlake police arrested a 17-year-old Westlake boy and an 18-year-old Cleveland man. North Olmsted police recovered a bag with suspected stolen items including checkbooks, …

Restaurant Customer Pulls A Fast One A quick-change theft in the 30200 block of Detroit Road lost a restaurant $150 at about 8 p.m. Jan 15. A black man in his late 20s made a series of small purchases with a $50 bill, which Cpt. Guy Turner said is a typical ploy intended to confuse employees. Police said the suspect is about 5 feet 11 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing a baseball hat with a script letter D on it. Teens' Shopping Trip Ends In Police Charges Officers arrested three 14-year-old girls from North Olmsted for shoplifting at about 1:30 p.m. Jan. 16 in the Crocker Park area. Westlake Police Blotter: Items Stolen From Garage, Cars and Crocker Park Store

Shoplifters ran but couldn't hide from police.

Shoplifting Incident Goes On The Road Crocker Park security detained four Cleveland women in a parking garage after a shoplifting incident at about 7:30 p.m. Jan. 10. According to police reports, the 20-year-old driver tried to drive away, forcing two guards to jump out of the way. Rocky River police stopped the vehicle on Interstate 90. Police charged the driver with robbery and transferred to Cuyahoga County Jail. Police charged the 18-year-old passenger with receiving stolen property, the 20-year-old passenger with possession of marijuana and the 27-year-old passenger with receiving stolen property and carrying various weapons for a folding knife found on her person.
