Tuesday's rally featuring Republican vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan was arranged over this past weekend, Westlake mayor Dennis Clough said Tuesday. Clough, who spoke at the rally ahead of Ryan, said he was contacted by a representative of the Romney/Ryan campaign on Friday, and a meeting was held late that afternoon. "We went through possible sites where we could hold a rally, what they would need," Clough said. Saturday morning, shortly after he was the top finisher in the 2-mile walk at the North Coast Challenge, he got word that the campaign had selected the Westlake Recreation Center for the rally. Nicole Miller of Lorain is 28, has finished nursing school recently, is unemployed, engaged and pregnant. Her life experiences are what led her to stand in line to attend Tuesday's rally featuring Republican vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan at the Westlake Recreation Center. "I'm scared about everything," she said. "I'm worried about my baby in this world we live in. When people can't find jobs, crime goes up. People start losing their minds. Republican vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan will speak at a rally at noon Tuesday at the Westlake Recreation Center. Doors open at 10 a.m. for the rally. Security for the event is described as "airport-like." Cameras are permitted. Bags, umbrellas, liquids, sharp objects and signs are not allowed. Ryan is coming off the Republican National Convention last week in Tampa and will be in town as the Democratic National Convention gets underway in Charlotte. Republican vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan will be making an appearance at a Tuesday rally at the Westlake Recreation Center. According to the Romney-Ryan campaign website, the rally is scheduled to begin at noon. Doors open at 10 a.m. Security for the event is described as "airport-like." Cameras are permitted.
