Kids and families spend an afternoon of fun on the hill behind Westlake Recreation Center.
The snow between Christmas and New Year's created some awesome sledding conditions for the big hill at Recreation Center Park. A few dozen children, teens and parents were there on Wednesday afternoon. All the sledding already done has packed the snow down nicely, making the ride down fast and fun. How have you been enjoying the winter break? Sledding? Making snowmen or snow angels? Share your photos! Click the "Upload photos and video button" to get started.

There was loads of family fun and a full parking lot
Saturday afternoon's beautiful weather made for big crowds at the annual Fall Festival and Pumpkin Hunt at Recreation Center Park. Rick Grane, president of Westlake Kiwanis and an auxiliary police officer working the event, said it was the biggest crowd in a few years. "The last couple of years, we had rain or just bad weather," he said. "Today's perfect. Not too hot, not too cold, no rain." Were you there? Share your photos! Click the "Upload photos and videos" button to get started. The park's parking lots were proof of the event's popularity. Every spot was filled, and people were parking on the roads leading into the park. There was lots for kids and families to do. The playground was filled. There were also inflatbles and bounce …

More than 650 participants walking 60 miles over three days. Share your photos!
Friday's hot and humid weather didn't stop more than 650 participants from starting the Northeast Ohio Komen 3 Day. Are you walking or supporting a walker this weekend? Share your photos here! Friday evening, they celebrated finishing the first day at Recreation Center Park. They got massages and foot rubs, relaxed in their own bright pink tent, enjoyed a shower on one of the shower trucks, and enjoyed dinner and entertainment. Some also stopped by the Remembrance Tent, a place to reflect on those lost to breast cancer. Many wrote notes on the white tents decorated with large pink ribbons. According to Northeast Ohio Komen for the Cure, last year's 3 Day raised $2.5 million. Theresa Ogonek of Akron added the Komen pink to her look by dying…

Having fun is the name of the game this time of year
Sometimes, you just want to play. Not a game with actual rules, but just run around, or toss a frisbie, or kick a ball. A couple of boys had that idea recently at Recreation Center Park. Soccer nets were set up, but they didn't get a game going. Instead, they took turns kicking the ball around and then trying for a goooooooooooooooal! Do you have photos of your summer fun? Share them in our Pics & Clips community scrapbook!

Recreation Center Park was one spot to enjoy the sunshine
Monday's summery -- but not too hot -- weather brought Westlake residents out by droves to enjoy it. Recreation Center Park was a popular place to go. People were fishing on the pond, strolling the walking trails and playing catch. Parents brought their kids to the playground for an afternoon of fun. While the children played, some parents joined in for a push of the swing. Others hung out on the benches, chatting or reading. One man got out his guitar for some afternoon music. Have your own pictures of summer fun? Upload them here or in our Pics & Clips community scrapbook.
