Assembly focuses on fashion, but send a message of keeping keeping safe during prom season.
Westlake High School’s Performing Arts Center was full of excitement Feb. 15. Senior girls, adorned in perfect hair, makeup and gorgeous prom gowns paired up with senior guys, equally resplendent in formal tuxedos. They entered as pairs, dancing their way through a festively stage while senior emcees Cara Murthy and Corbin Dunlap described the gowns, tuxes, and each senior model's post-graduation plans. Principal Mike Freeman hopes they are all alive to see those post-graduation plans come to fruition. Freeman knows that the deadliest time in young person’s life is the last 100 days of high school. Westlake High senior uses Emily's Rainbow Run to ask girlfriend to prom
Amanda Oswald said her boyfriend, Colton Buffington, is not one for big, romantic gestures. But he is, apparently, one for surprises. Buffington, a Westlake High senior, showed up at the finish line of Sunday's Emily's Rainbow Run, in which Oswald was running, with a bouquet of flowers and a sign that read, "Amanda ... Prom?" Oswald, also a Westlake senior, ran into Buffington's arms after crossing the finish line and seeing the sign. "He's such a good boyfriend," she said. The couple have been dating for two years. Buffington said he was nervous as he approached the Westlake High track, and brought along a friend for moral support. "This is the most public romantic thing I've ever done," he said. This week has lots of fun events going on!
Summer’s not quite over yet but the kids are back in school and suddenly the days are going a lot slower (for the kids too). Over 350 seniors and their dates attended a night they'll never forget on Saturday.
Westlake students celebrated the end of their high school career at the InterContintental Hotel Saturday night. Over 350 students ate and dance the night away before heading to afterprom at the high school.
