Last-Minute Election Stops from Obama, Romney Campaigns

If you hear about others, tell us in the comments.

It’s finally Election Day, but Ohio—especially Northeast Ohio—isn’t out of the spotlight yet.   Both the Obama and Romney campaigns made a stop in (the exact same spot of) Cleveland earlier today. CNN reports that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s plane landed at the airport earlier today. Shortly before noon, the plane for his vice presidential candidate, Paul Ryan, also landed.  So did Vice President Joe Biden’s plane. With all the recent campaign stops in the area, this isn't surprising. The Washington Post's Election 2012 Blog reports that this has actually happened to the candidates three times in the past three days, including this past weekend in Cleveland. Romney: Obama Has Made the Election About Big Bird

Paul Ryan makes joint appearance with Romney at evening rally in North Canton.

The evening was cold and rainy and the local high school football team was playing its neighboring rival. But the Republican presidential ticket of Romney and Ryan drew a huge crowd to Hoover High School Friday night. Gov. Mitt Romney campaigned in Iowa and Ohio Friday as national polls showed a tightening presidential race. A CNN poll on Friday showed Obama leading by 4 percentage points in Ohio. With the race seeming to be narrowing here, rally-goers at Hoover High School said on Friday that this presidential contest was getting exciting and very watchable. "I think this is the most excited I've seen people ever," said Lauren Zink of Jackson Township. "It's good. I think it should continue like this. I think this is probably the biggest …

The Quote of the Decade: "The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Local Debate Reaction: Dems Say Joe Biden Won; GOP Says Paul Ryan Did

Who won the debate? Democrats say Joe Biden. Republicans say Paul Ryan.

Northeast Ohio Democrats were enthusiastic about Vice President Joe Biden's debate performance on Oct. 11, saying in a Patch survey that Biden advanced the Democratic campaign by besting Paul Ryan. Local Republicans surveyed said that Ryan, the GOP vice presidential nominee, outperformed Biden but that the national media will declare Biden the winner. The opinion poll of local partisans was conducted as part of Patch's Red/Blue Northeast Ohio poll series. Patch received survey responses from 16 Democrats and 21 Republicans. A majority of local Democrats said that Biden defeated Ryan by a "wide margin" and praised the vice president for attacking Ryan on the issues in ways President Barack Obama did not in the debate against Mitt Romney. …
