Company boasts record first-quarter results
Nordson Corporation, headquartered in Westlake, is enjoying a solid year, as evidenced by a record first-quarter results released Feb. 22, and common products used by you, probably helped drive that growth. “That smart phone or tablet you’re using? Organization started by Westlake mom for parents of children with developmental delays will hold more events at Westlake Porter Library
Sarah Rintamaki started Connecting For Kids after feeling alone and frustrated trying to find support for dealing with her children's speech and developmental delays. Now, she's definitely not alone. Connecting For Kids and Westlake Porter Library have been awarded $33,000 in grants to provide support, resources and education for parents of children with developmental issues including autism, ADHD, Asperger's, anxiety issues, speech delays, and sensory processing disorders, as well as developmental issues that don't have a definite diagnosis. A $23,000 grant from the Cleveland Foundation, given to the library, will pay for parent discussion groups, music therapy, playtime and storytime. All of these are free of charge. Westlake headquarters earn Silver certification for green building
Nordson earned an environmental honor this week as its world headquarters on Clemens Road was given a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certification. LEED is the U.S. Green Building Council's rating system for environmentally-friendly buildings. Silver certification means that the Nordson headquarters scored between 50 and 59 points in the U.S. Green Building Council ratings. Points are awarded for such things as protecting and restoring natural habitats on the property, reducing light pollution, water efficient landscaping, energy efficiency, indoor air quality and recycling while building.
