Cell Phone Tower Plans Draw Concern

Verizon tower may be built on Prince of Peace Lutheran Church property

A part of southwestern Westlake that has long been plagued by poor cell phone service has been presented with a solution. Residents aren't yet sure about it, however. They expressed hopes and concerns at a meeting at City Hall last week organized by Ward 4 City Councilman Michael O'Donnell. About two dozen people attended. Verizon has entered into an agreement with Prince of Peace Lutheran Church to lease a small piece of land in the western end of the church's property to build a 100-foot-high cell phone tower. Bob Grant, an attorney for Verizon, said that the company has been trying to find a solution for the dead zone in that part of town for six years. The City Council of Westlake is meeting January 3rd to decide whether or not to allow the first purely residential cell tower to be built at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Meeting Planned to Discuss Cell Tower Near Church

Verizon wants to build cell phone tower near Prince of Peace Lutheran Church

Verizon is seeking to add a cell phone tower in Westlake near Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Ward 4 City Councilman Michael O'Donnell is holding a community meeting to discuss the proposed tower. The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 27 in council chambers at City Hall. All are welcome to attend.

I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT PROPERTY VALUES AND THE SAFETY OF PROLONGED EXPOSURE TO THE YOUNG CHILDREN LESS THAN 500 FT AWAY FROM THE TOWER. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE DETAILED INFORMATION HOW IT CAME TO THIS SPOT IN OUR CITY. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO KEEP THESE TOWERS IN INDUSTRIAL AREAS, COMMERCIAL, AND CITY OWNED SPACES.
