Blizzard Doesn't Keep Post-Christmas Shoppers From Sales

Not even a Blizzard Warning could keep people from hitting the stores and restaurants around Westlake on Wednesday. Were you out today, or did you stay in? Share your blizzard photos here. Nick Brown of Dayton and Lauren Bartolozzi of Athens were two of the people who braved the snow to come out to Crocker Park. They were staying with Bartolozzi's mother in Cleveland's West Park neighborhood for Christmas. "We were supposed to go down to Athens today," Bartolozzi said as they sat at the bar at B Spot. "But with the storm, we decided to stay. So we came out so I could get some new shoes, and have lunch." Brown said they'd probably be heading …

Sears Grand To Become Kmart

The new superstore will open Feb. 22.

The Sears Grand store at the West Bay Shopping Center will return to being a Kmart next month as part of the company's larger plans to close 100 to 120 Kmart and Sears stores. "Given our performance and the difficult economic environment, especially for big-ticket items, we intend to implement a series of actions to reduce on-going expenses, adjust our asset base, and accelerate the transformation of our business model," said Chief Executive Officer Lou D'Ambrosio in a release. "These actions will better enable us to focus our investments on serving our customers and members through integrated retail— at the store, online and in the home." Good news. Sears Grand was always empty. I don't know how they stayed open as long as they did - and such an odd and patchy assortment of merchandise. I'd much rather have a KMart.   more ›
