Month celebrates the life of Jack Miner including a wreath laying April 10.
All eyes are on Jack Miner and the Westlake Historical Society this month. Jack Miner was born April 10, 1865 in what was Dover Centre and is now Westlake. The Society has plans to mark the occasion. The Historical Society will lay a wreath at the Jack Miner Ohio Historical Marker to honor his birthday. The public is welcome to attend the ceremony at 12:30 p.m. on April 10 at his birthplace at the corner of Dover Center and Westown Boulevard. The Ohio Historical Marker honoring Jack Miner was originally dedicated May 3, 1975 and refurbished by the City of Westlake in 2009. Read more about Miner here. Downtown Cleveland Restaurant Week starts this weekend.
Looking to get out of town, but not too far out this weekend? Downtown Cleveland's Restaurant Week starts this weekend with $30 prix fixe dinners, $15 lunch specials and pierogis at over 40 restaurants. This year is the first time the specials, at places like Lola, Morton's, The Greenhouse and more, have extended through two weekends — Feb. 22 to March 3. Some parking will be available for $2 after 5 p.m., and customers can enter for a chance to win downtown dining for a year. Crocker Park Tree Lighting Ceremony Join the holiday celebration at Crocker Park on Saturday. The entertainment starts at 4 p.m. with local schools and community groups. Ryan Humbert will take the stage at 7 p.m. with some upbeat seasonal songs before Santa flips the switch to light up the 50-foot tree at 7:30 p.m. The ceremony ends with a special holiday fireworks show.
