Democrats Challenge State Rep. Nan Baker

Todd LeVeck and Andrew Meyer will be on the ballot for the Democratic nomination.

Democrats Todd LeVeck and Andrew Meyer are hoping to be the candidate to beat Republican incumbent State Rep. Nan Baker in the race to represent District 16 in the Ohio State House of Representatives. Neither candidate has held political office before, but both are outspoken opponents of Senate Bill 5. LeVeck, 43, of Westlake, is a computer programming teacher at Max S. Hayes High School in Cleveland and a Navy veteran. He is a father of three, a coach and a union representative. Meyer, 31, of Rocky River, is a private practice attorney in Rocky River who focuses on building and housing code issues. He is also the treasurer of the West Shore Bar Association. Democrats Todd LeVeck and Andrew Meyer addressed issues from fracking to foreclosure at the Westside Democrats debate Tuesday night. LeVeck, a public schools teacher, and Meyer, a private practice attorney, met at  to convince Democratic voters that they will be the candidate to beat Nan Baker. Town Hall Draws Residents to Talk About State Budget, SB5 and More

State Rep. Nan Baker talked with residents from five cities on Tuesday about state issues.

Residents of five cities expressed their concerns over school budget cuts, voiced their frustrations about Senate Bill 5 and asked questions about other state issues at Tuesday night's Town Hall. State Rep. Nan Baker invited residents of District 16, which is made up of Bay Village, Fairview Park, Rocky River, North Olmsted and Westlake, at Westlake Recreation Center to hear about the issues facing the community. State Budget Baker stressed that jobs are still her priority, but said the state budget has been the most pressing issue in Columbus. “We can’t print the money; we can’t borrow the money; we need to balance the budget,” Baker said. If any readers were there, please share your thoughts. Wish I was able to make this meeting to hear more than this article. I think Nan Baker needs to realize that the taxpayers are not expecting profits to be made, but investing in their schools and community. "Some reform" should not mean obliteration of public unions to the level they have no value. Ultimately this has been the goal of SB5. …   more ›
