Police Blotter: Road Rage, Burglary and More

The following arrest information was provided by the Westlake Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Road Rage on Interstate 90 A 66-year-old Elyria man and a 60-year-old North Olmsted man chased each other from Hilliard Boulevard in Rocky River to a McDonald's parking lot at Detroit and Crocker roads at about 1:45 p.m. Dec. 14. The older man told police that the younger man shouted obscenities at him, while the younger man told police that the other driver cut him off twice. He denied any swearing. The City Prosecutor will rule on what, if any, charges will be filed.   Break In On Cahoon Road A home on Cahoon Road was entered some time between Dec. 11 and 14. Police Investigate Break-Ins On Southwood Drive, Oakwood Lane

One home was broken into and three garages were entered last week.

Police are investigating break-ins at three garages and one home on Southwood Drive and Oakwood Lane. An unknown suspect or suspects got into an Oakwood Lane garage at about 10:30 p.m. June 21 through an unlocked pedestrian door. Upon hearing someone trying to force the door to the laundry room through the garage, the resident yelled from the second floor, and the suspect left. Nothing was taken. A Southwood Drive home was also entered some time between 2:30 and 11 p.m. the same day, while the owners were out of town. Their son discovered that the sliding door to the home had been forced open and the house was ransacked. The owners will conduct an inventory of what is missing when they return. Police Blotter: Man Puts Computer Down His Pants

Officers also arrested an assault suspect hiding in the woods near his home.

Man Stuffs E-Reader Down His Pants A $200 e-reader was stolen from Borders at 1:12 p.m. May 9. Surveillance equipment showed that a white man took the device and removed the security sensor before sticking it into the back of his pants and leaving. Police Find Assault Suspect in Woods Nearby Home A 55-year-old Westlake woman at St. John Medical Center told police that her 59-year-old live-in boyfriend assaulted her at about 11:30 p.m. May 7. The woman was being treated for injuries to her chest and forearm when she told officers that her boyfriend punched her at their home on Center Ridge Road. The boyfriend was gone when officers arrived to arrest him, but they found him in the wood nearby the next afternoon. The man is in Westlake City …

Police Blotter: Guns, Cash Stolen From Home and Another Mummy Sighting

Westlake police also responded to a fight over taking out the trash at Taco Bell, mysteriously moved furniture and more in this week's incidents.

$31,000 In Cash, Guns, Jewelry and More Stolen From Home Police have no suspects in a break-in at a home in the 28400 block of Stonegate Circle. The burglar or burglars came in through the back door and ransacked several rooms, taking $30,000 in cash, a .38 caliber revolver, two 9mm semiautomatic pistols, jewelry, two iPods and a video camera. The break-in was some time between 4:15 p.m. and 9:50 p.m. March 4. The total loss is about $31,000. Another Mummy Sighting A woman told police that she again saw a mummy at 2:42 a.m. March 3. The same woman reported seeing a mummy smoking in an SUV in a Bay Landings Driveway last week. Officers didn’t catch a glimpse of the risen dead. Westlake Police Blotter: Churches, Homes Burglarized

Several residents reported missing cash.

Several break-ins occurred at homes and churches in the city recently so be sure to lock the doors, take valuables out of the car and close all of the windows. Margaretta Drive Home Entered Through First-Floor Window Police investigated a break-in in the 2900 block of Margaretta Drive the evening of Dec. 30. At 8:13 p.m., officers responded to a home and found that suspects got into the house by forcing open a first-floor window. The residents said the house was empty from about 4 p.m. to the time of the report. They reported $200 in cash missing. Police have no suspects. Suspect Takes $130 Cash From Westwood Road Home Residents reported a second burglary in the same time frame in the 24400 block of Westwood Road. Police determined that …
