Two songs are available from Westlake's own Lumpia after the trio won the Porter Public Library Battle of the Bands.
People all over the world can now download original songs from a Westlake band of brothers. Guitarist PJ, drummer John Paul and bassist Max make up the band Lumpia, winners of the first Porter Public Library Battle of the Bands. The trio won eight hours of recording time and now have two songs— Midnight Blues and Kill Screen— for sale on iTunes.

Here are five things you don't want to miss today!
1) Six young local bands will be battling it out for some studio time and the chance to sell a song on iTunes at the Battle of the Bands at Westlake Porter Public Library today. Dempsey Hall, Krych Sisters, Lumpia, The Sludge, Texting While Driving and The Triptyx (all made up of musicians between 12 and 18) will all take the stage between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. The concert will be outside, weather permitting, so bring a chair! 2) The Ice Cream King by Steve Metzger is this week's book at Barnes & Noble's Friday Morning Storytime. Take a road trip to Columbus for the State Fair, go on a mini-vacation at Whiskey Island, flash backwards to the Jazz Age with the musical Chicago, attend a jam session with Battle of the Bands, or time machine to winter by ice-skating!
This week has some of the best events of summer, like the State Fair, live music on Whiskey Island, and the musical Chicago performed by the Lorain Community Music Theater. Public ice skating is a great alternative to ice cream or the beach and Battle of the Bands at the library could be a fun family diversion. Six groups will compete on Friday afternoon for the chance to record and sell a song on iTunes.
Six local bands are going head to head on Friday at the Westlake Porter Public Library Battle of the Bands. Dempsey Hall, Krych Sisters, Lumpia, The Sludge, Texting While Driving and The Triptyx (all made up of musicians between 12 and 18) will be putting on their best show for the grand prize. The winning act will get eight hours of recording time at Playroom Studios in North Ridgeville and the opportunity to sell a song on iTunes. The runner-up will get a $100 gift certificate to Guitar Center of North Olmsted. The battle starts at 11 a.m. and goes until 4 p.m. on the lawn, so be sure to bring a chair or blanket.
