SOLON: Solon Detectives Searching For Man Who Tried To Abduct Two Women Solon Police are investigating two attempted abductions at the Park East Apartments. Police said there will be an increased police presence while detectives are investigating the incidents. On Wednesday, a woman reported that a man tried to grab her and gain entry into her apartment. Pair runs from officers, goes to jail anyway
Westlake Police will tell you, “Run, and you’ll just go to jail tired.”Two Brunswick residents (20-year-old male and 18-year-old female) ran from investigating officers at a Bradley Road home on April 23 soon after noon. The property owner had called Westlake Police earlier about damage done to the garage by a 2003 Ford minivan the night before. That van turned out to have been stolen in Brunswick; it was impounded and since no one answered the door, a watch was set over the house. Both suspects were captured nearby. Unrelated incidents get both DCI summonses.
An intoxicated 50-year-old woman reported an altercation with her male roommate at 6:29 p.m. on April 26. When officers arrived at their Detroit Road residence, she had already bicycled off . A Weymouth Circle resident found her passed out on the grass at his apartment complex 30 minutes later and called police. The female admitted to drinking a bottle of vodka and taking prescription medicines; she was transported to St. John Medical Center by the Westlake Fire Department and will receive a Disorderly Conducts/Intoxication (DCI) summons in the mail, courtesy of the Westlake Police Department. Crafty Scam Nets Thief Cases of Beer A man has hit two Giant Eagle stores in Fairlawn with a scam that allowed him to walk out with multiple cases of free beer. According to the report, the man identified himself to the manager as a Tramonte Distributing employee who had come to inventory the shelves for outdated beer. He went into the cooler and loaded six cases of Miller Lite and a six-pack of Miller Lite into a shopping cart, then wheeled it out to his car and left. Kevin Foster sentenced to 60 days in jail, victims said they were coerced into having sex.
The former choir director at Westlake United Methodist Church who was arrested in September of 2012 was sentenced to 60 days in jail on two counts of furnishing minors with alcohol, a misdemeanor. Kevin Foster, 37, was sentenced on April 19 by Rocky River Municipal Court Judge Donna Congeni Fitzsimmons to 60 days in Cuyahoga County jail and a $1,000 fine. He pleaded no contest and was found guilty by the court. Foster was accused of serving two underaged young women, who were 18, alcohol last year on the church's premises. Foster is also a self-employed music teacher. According to by Westlake Police, he gave lessons in his home and also served as a recital accompanist in area schools. This week in the blotters.
Numerous items were stolen last week from business locations this past week. In the blotters: Tools valued at $3,800 were stolen from a Detroit Road construction site between April 13-15. A storage box was forced open and wire, drills, a saw, and extension cords were taken. There are no suspects. The taillight covers were taken off of a 2012 Dodge pickup parked at a Clemens Rd. business between April 12-15. An employee reported that similar thefts have taken place at three of their other locations as well. Westlake police have no suspects. While an employee of a Detroit business was at lunch on April 19 between 11:45AM-12:45PM, his $1300 laptop computer was taken off his desk. A dissatisfied woman pitched a fit at the Post Office on April 16 at 6:13 p.m., becoming a very unhappy potential customer. When she found that the envelope she needed was out of stock, she took mailing products off the shelf and threw them around; she also damaged display fixtures. A witness obtained the license plate of the vehicle she left in. Investigation revealed the suspect to be a 45-year-old Sheffield Lake woman. She claimed that she did not damage anything and had simply moved mailers around looking for the ones she wanted. Westlake Police will issue her a summons for Disorderly Conduct. Donkeys On The Lam In Brecksville Brecksville resident Becca Craig was shocked to glance out the front window of her Gatewood Drive home to find two donkeys chasing her pup Barney around the front yard Tuesday afternoon. She quickly reacted, and pulled her dog inside to safety. Turns out that the animals had escaped through an open fence at the nearby Brecksville Stables.
