Judging for the Westlake in Bloom contest has finished and winners will be notified starting Monday, July 29. Winners will be honored at a ceremony at LaCentre, Aug. 7.

Former Westlake basketball star Kalpana Beach, red-shirted by Ohio State her sophormore year after starting 30 games as a freshman, has an unsure season ahead of her at the university, The Morning Journal is reporting. She is recovering from another torn knee ligament.

Albert Einstein Academy of Westlake (AEA) is a new tuition-free, college-preparatory community school opening its doors for the 2013-14 academic year in Westlake for grades 7-9. Find out more at a family cookout and open house on Monday, July 29 at 5:30 p.m. The cookout will feature food from Al Bubba Baker's "Bubba’s-Q". The academy is located at 3550 Crocker Rd. in Westlake.
Here’s a way to give blood without playing hockey. Donate blood at the Lutheran Home at Concord Reserve on Friday, Aug. 2 at 2116 Dover Center Road in Westlake n the Village Square room from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Refreshments will be available for all blood donors.
