Get Out: Outdoor Concerts, NASA Wind Tunnel, Free Movie and More

This week's events include an outdoor movie at Crocker Park, an outdoor Americana concert at Bay Arts, a tour of NASA's wind tunnel, an outdoor 60s tribute concert at the Westlake Recreation Center and basic computer classes at Porter Public Library.

This week there are tons of ways to enjoy being outside ranging from movies to concerts. And for those who are interested in technology, there’s also an opportunity to tour NASA’s wind tunnel and learn computer basics. Read on to find out the week’s events.

Why go: Were you planning on having a relaxing movie night with the family this week? Why not head up to and watch it outside on the big screen? Bring a blanket or some lawn chairs and make a night of it. Enjoy Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory at no cost. Take advantage of the summer weather while you can!

LOST STATE OF FRANKLIN

Where/When: Bay Arts/ Friday 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Why go: You celebrated America’s independence with fireworks this past Monday, but what about good ol’ American music? This free, outdoor concert will give you a reason to go outside. Lost State of Franklin plays jazz, rock, bluegrass and country. They even perform beat poetry! Bring your family and a blanket for a fun evening. Parking is free too!

NASA: BREEZE THROUGH A WIND TUNNEL

Where/When: NASA Glenn Research Center/ Saturday at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m.

Why go:  Have you ever been inside a wind tunnel? Learn how NASA researchers test airplanes and spacecrafts without leaving the ground! These one-hour tours will be fascinating to science buffs and kids alike. Or maybe you’ve passed the NASA Glenn Research Center a million times but you’ve always been curious about what’s inside. SUMMER CONCERT SERIES: AFTERMATH, A 60S TRIBUTE BAND

Where/When: / Sunday 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 

Why go: Do you miss 60s music? Do you love listening to 105.7? Well come to the Westlake Recreation Center this Sunday and near the pavilion there will be a live concert of all your favorites! Aftermath plays hits from the Byrds, Beatles, Hollies and Turtles to Grass Roots Paul Revere & the Raiders, Monkees and Strawberry Alarm Clock. This concert will be a blast, and who knows, maybe it will inspire you to tell your kids a few stories about yourself back then…

COMPUTER CLASSES COVERING MICROSOFT EXCEL, WORD 2007, KEYBOARDING AND MORE

Where/When: / Thursday (Introduction to Microsoft Excel: 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Email Basics: 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.), Saturday (Introduction to Word 2007: 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., Introduction to Word 2007, Part Two: 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.), Monday (Mouse 101: 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Introduction to the Internet: 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.), Tuesday (Keyboard: 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.), Wednesday (Introduction to the Internet: 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint 2007: 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.)
