Westlake's Stuckart Misses Out On State Crown

Senior wrestler fades in consolations, ending a memorable high school career.

The Westlake Demons fielded one wrestler at this past weekend’s OHSAA Division I State Wrestling Championships and came away without earning a top-eight placing.

Senior Sheldon Stuckart (40-4 record entering state) was a strong contender to win the 152-pound crown and started off strong with a opening round, 15-7 major decision win over Hudson senior Tyler Peacock. In his second championship round match, Stuckart lost to sophomore Nick Corba of Beavercreek via decision, 7-4, to send the Demon grappler to the consolation bracket. In the consolations, Wooster senior Anthony Catanzarite ended Stuckart’s day with a 15-1 major decision victory.

Coach Mike Antonyzyn's team of one finished tied for 62nd overall with three points, well-behind winner Lakewood St. Edward (187 points). Massillon Perry (109), Wadsworth (96), Cincinnati Elder (72), and Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller (66) round out the top five.

The championships, held at the Jerome Schottenstein Center at The Ohio State University in Columbus, enjoyed a five-session attendance total of 61,856. In the championship finals, over 14,000 (14,121 actual) saw 14 wrestlers crowned champion. In total, 100 schools and 224 wrestlers participated in 14 weight classes.

I think Enterprise was going to move there, since BMW is moving to where Enterprise is.
