Nick Wertman Named Plain Dealer Boys Soccer Player of the Year

Wertman led Demons to OHSAA regional finals

Westlake High School soccer star Nick Wertman has been named the Plain Dealer's Boys Soccer Player of the Year.

Wertman, a senior, led the Demons to the OHSAA Division I Region 2 finals, where they fell to Sylvania Southview, 3-1.

In the playoffs, Wertman excelled. He scored three goals in the Demons' 4-0 win over Olmsted Falls in the sectional final, and scored both goals in the 2-0 regional semifinal win over Avon.

He finished with 27 goals and 10 assists on the season.

Wertman was also named the Southwestern Conference Most Valuable Player this season.

He was also inducted into the National Honor Society at Westlake High in April.
