Margot Shumway Nominated for Amateur Athlete of the Year

After making an appearance in the 2012 Summer Olympics, Shumway was nominated for an award at the 2012 Greater Cleveland Sports Awards.

Westlake native Margot Shumway was recently nominated for Amateur Athlete of the Year award, but sadly did not come home with the prize.

Shumway was a nominee at the 2012 Greater Cleveland Sports Awards Thursday night, losing to Tianna (Madison) Bartoletta, from Elyria.

Shumway has been a member of the USA Rowing team for six years and finished third in the double sculls at the National Selection Regatta No. 2, advancing to the Final Olympic Qualification Regatta.

She finished first there and made her way to the 2012 Olympic Games in London. However, she finished sixth in the double sculls race.
