Everyone Wins When Cleveland Browns Come to Youth Challenge

Youth Challenge members get to play football game with Browns players

Even if the Cleveland Browns weren't on a three-game winning streak, they would have gotten a warm welcome at Youth Challenge on Tuesday.

About 26 members of the organization, which provides sports and recreation opportunities for disabled youth, got to play football with real professional football players.

Browns players Johnson Bademosi, Jordan Cameron, Jordan Norwood, Owen Marecic, Craig Robertson and Jabaal Sheard played adaptive football with the members, and 21 of their volunteer buddies, in the Youth Challenge gym.

The event was part of the Browns' efforts in the National Football League's Play 60 program, which encourages 60 minutes of active play a day for children.

They also spent time making Browns-themed ornaments for the Youth Challenge Christmas tree, and brought gift bags, that included Browns caps and fleece blankets, for all the members.

The Browns do community events such as this about three times a week during the season.

"You won't find bigger Browns fans than here at Youth Challenge," said Chris Garr, Director of Program Services, told the players. Several Youth Challenge members cheered in agreement.

"This was awesome," Cameron said. "This time of year, it's great to give back. And we got to have fun doing it."

Robertson said being able to do events like this is "a blessing and an honor."

Playing with the Youth Challenge members was a reminder of how fun football can be, he said.

"When you see them smile because you hand the ball off to them, even if they don't score a touchdown, that's what makes this special," he said.
