Blackburn Continues Links Success at Ashland

Junior was a high school standout at Lutheran West.

Westlake’s Nick Blackburn will again play for the Ashland University Men's Golf Team.

Blackburn, a junior, is a two-year letterman and finished fifth at the Ohio Dominican Invitational, shooting 77 and 71.

Blackburn, the son of John and Karen Blackburn of Westlake. is majoring in business management. He is a 2010 graduate of Lutheran West High School.

In high school, Blackburn was a two-time, first team all-conference choice and he was named to the second team once. He was on the first team all-district and the district runner-up, being named honorable mention all-district.

Blackburn placed 16th at the state tournament and was a medalist at the Medina Invitational. He played on teams that won district and sectional championships four years in a row.

 At Lutheran West he helped the Longhorns win seven tournament titles and go undefeated in nine-hole matches in conference play for four consecutive years.

He was a four-year letterman on the links.

The Ashland University men's golf team competes in NCAA Division II in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). They are led by head coach Darrin Jones.

The Eagles host their home matches at the Country Club of Ashland.
