"I love gym," she said. "It’s a break from studying. I also love phonics and spelling.  I am lucky that they are easy for me."

Though some of her successes come easy, she isn’t resting on her laurels. Grace works through both easy and more difficult subjects with focus and determination.

"I study hard at home and I try to do what my teacher and parents ask of me," Grace said. "I also try to do extra credit sometimes in case my grade needs a little help at the last minute."

Keys to Awesomeness:

Grace said she wants to grow up to be a teacher, just like her teacher Miss Anders. Her academic excellence and willingness to learn will help her with this, as will her helpful attitude.

"If someone is having a hard time with something, I will try to help them because I know what it’s like to need help. I try to be nice to everyone," she said.

Outside of school, her accomplishments and interests are equally impressive.

"I love to swim, do gymnastics, play basketball and jump on my trampoline. I am in the choir at school. I like to draw, color and read," she said.

She also helps out around the house when she isn't studying by folding laundry, unloading the dishwasher and taking out the garbage.

If something doesn't come easy for Grace, she works harder at it. When she found jumping rope a challenge for her, she worked at it until she perfected her moves. Her latest personal goal includes listening to her parents and fighting less often with her brother.

She listens to Taylor Swift and Miranda Cosgrove, but her role models are her parents and her grandmothers.

"I look up to my parents and grandmas because they are special and funny," she said. "They are kind & sweet people, and I would like to be just like them someday."

The Million Dollar Question:

If she were given a million dollars to give to a cause or charity of her choice, Grace would donate the money to cancer research.

"My grandpa died from cancer and I never got to meet him. It would be so neat to help people, so all those people live," she said.
