Westlake High STEM Students Shine at State Fair

Several honored at Ohio State Fair Technology & Engineering Showcase.

Several students are heading back to school this week after making their school proud at the 2012 Ohio State Fair Technology & Engineering Showcase.

Senior Nicole Klidas was awarded Best of Show for her weed trimmer propane conversion project.

Senior Kalin Ngo earned an Outstanding Award for her ergonomically designed rocking chair.

Winning the blue ribbon award of merit were senior Bill Abersold for his new cordless drill design, senior Scott Michaud for his weed trimmer part redesign, junior Matt Hall for his Greeter’s Office design, and junior Jacob Lemanowicz for his confetti and t-shirt launcher.

Also honored was the Screamin' Demons team of driver Paige Rimko, pit crew members Kartik Sastry, Nicholas Button, Nathan Bauer, Dylan Komorowski and Justin Jazqa for their Soap Box Derby Gravity Racing Challenge car; and the team of Ngo, Lemanowicz and junior Jacob Hoffman for their “Great Green Living: Deep Woods Vacation Cabin” and energy-efficient model design.

The Westlake High School display also won the Award of Excellence Trophy for the Best Technology Exhibit.
