With about a month left until the May 7 election, supporters of the Westlake School levy are trying to get the word out.
There are several events planned in the next month to promote the 5.9-mill operating levy. It will cost the owner of a $100,000 home $15 a month, according to the Issue 16 website.
Citizens for Westlake Schools created a new website where Westlake residents can sign on to support the levy.
The website allows residents to show their support for the May 7 levy, see who else has endorsed it and how to contribute.
The second wave of Issue 16 yard signs will go up on Saturday, April 6. Orders are still being accepted at www.westlakelevy.com.
The second Levy Information Night will be on April 11 at 7 p.m. in the Porter Public Library. It will discuss information regarding the impact of state funding reductions, the fiscal accountability of Westlake Schools and the need for the levy.
A Taste of Westlake is set for Thursday, April 18 at 6:30 p.m. It is a campaign fundraiser and serves as a rally of support for Westlake Schools. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased by visiting the website.
