According to a message on the Westlake City Schools website, Hilliard Elementary and Parkside Intermediate schools will still be closed on Oct. 31. The power outages at those buildings have continued.

According to FirstEnergy, about 8,700 customers in Westlake were still without power as of 3:30 p.m.

Beachwood Patch Editor Nikki Ferrell spoke with Mark Durbin, spokesperson for FirstEnergy, Tuesday afternoon.

Durbin said the power should be repaired for most customers by the end of the week, but some areas could be without power into the weekend. Customers west of Interstate 77 and those near the lake will likely see the longest delays.

All other schools in the district will resume classes on Wednesday.
