Romantic Move Scores Student a Prom Date

Westlake High senior uses Emily's Rainbow Run to ask girlfriend to prom

Amanda Oswald said her boyfriend, Colton Buffington, is not one for big, romantic gestures.

But he is, apparently, one for surprises.

Buffington, a senior, showed up at the finish line of , in which Oswald was running, with a bouquet of flowers and a sign that read, "Amanda ... Prom?"

Oswald, also a Westlake senior, ran into Buffington's arms after crossing the finish line and seeing the sign.

"He's such a good boyfriend," she said. The couple have been dating for two years.

Buffington said he was nervous as he approached the Westlake High track, and brought along a friend for moral support.

"This is the most public romantic thing I've ever done," he said.

Now, they have a prom date to plan. Westlake's prom is May 19.

"Guess I better go get a tux," Buffington said.
