Old Westlake High: When The Walls Come Tumbling Down

Remnants will be hauled away as new high school readies for its debut.

With the new Westlake High School readying for its debut in September, crews were busy knocking down and starting to haul away the old school, just east, over the past few weeks.

Dave Puffer, supervisor for construction projects for Westlake City Schools, previously said plenty of items were reused.

“We’re reusing a lot of what was in there in the new building,” Puffer said. “We’re reusing some stuff around the district, such as lockers to Dover Intermediate.”

Some of the gym flooring has been moved to the new high school, which will be dedicated Homecoming weekend.

The archway from the front door of the old red brick building on the high school premises will be used at the high school as parts of a façade and the historical society wanted the old door.

This past spring, numerous items were auctioned off to the public.
