LOOK: New Burneson Middle School Looking More Like a School

See the progress that has been made inside and out

What a difference a few weeks makes.

After getting through superstorm Sandy relatively unscathed, the new Lee Burneson Middle School has begun looking more and more like a real school rather than a construction project. At least on the outside.

Roofing work continues on the project, and the brick exterior is done. Just about all the windows are in. Benches and bike racks are being installed out front. People driving into the parking lot to pick up their children at the current Lee Burneson Middle School or Dover Elementary School can get a good idea of what the school will look like when it opens for the 2013-14 school year.

Check out the slideshow for more details on the project.

Having the roof and windows done has made interior work progress easier, said Dave Puffer, supervisor for construction projects for Westlake City Schools.

"We're able to get the interior dry and warm," Puffer said.

It not only makes work easier and more comfortable for the workers, but it also means the interior masonry walls in the gym should be dry enough for painting work to begin next week, with other interior walls to follow.

Wiring for electricity has begun in the administrative area, and HVAC ductwork is going in throughout the school.
