Lee Burneson Math Demons Advance to FIRST LEGO League Regional Competition

The team will compete in the district qualifying tournament in January.

The Lee Burneson Middle School Math Demons made a good showing at the FIRST LEGO League Competition where students built their own robots, researched food spoilage and learned about teamwork.

The Demons took home the innovative solution award for their research on how to prevent food spoilage in a refrigerator at the competition held Saturday at Warren G. Harding High School. The team created a solution to food spoilage— a smart refrigerator that tracks the expiration date of the food inside.

The team also won fourth place in the robotics competition, in which they had to build and program a robot to complete a number of tasks. Judges evaluated the robot's design, programming and problem-solving strategies.
