Westlake Is 200! How Old Is Your Family?

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 12, members of the Cuyahoga West Genealogical Society and the Family History Center from Westlake’s Latter-day Saint Church will be available at Westlake Porter Public Library to aid in your new or continued search. Ancestry.com is providing free access for this event and Family Search is readily available.

Although ten genealogists will be at computer terminals throughout the event, there also will be individual assistance available to answer questions, give guidance and complete pedigree charts.

Plan to bring names (including maiden, all marriages), and any significant dates (birth, marriage, death) if you have them. Much has been found with less, including the previous bicentennial event when just a name and a city found relatives. In almost all situations, documents, pictures and other valuable information was copied for those attending.

There were several meaningful surprises and a few laughable situations for those searching at the last event—make Saturday, November 12th the day you find your family…maybe those older than the City of Westlake.

This event is being offered without cost. Questions call Westlake’s Community Services Department, 440-899-3544.
