Dover Cares & Shares Knitters Warm Necks of Special Olympics Athletes
Volunteers knitted 18 scarves.
The devoted knitters in the Dover Cares & Shares club sent five handmade scarves to the 2012 Special Olympics USA Scarf Project.
The scarves collected through the project were given to Special Olympics athletes, coaches, families, volunteers and supporters. Dover’s scarves adorned the necks of the Summit County Special Olympics Cross Country ski team that participated in the Special Olympics Ohio Winter Games in Columbus.
The Scarf Project is a nationwide project sponsored by Red Heart Yarns. Dover knitters former Dover assistant Carol Hazen, Dover teacher assistant Mary Weigle, Dover special education assistant Dianne Campo, Dover special education assistant Mary Fazekas, English as a Second Language assistant Camilia Saliba, Parkside Intermediate School teacher assistant Susan Dvorak, Dover art teacher Jen Riley and Dover elementary assistant Judi Spitzer knitted 18 scarves for Special Olympics.
