LOOK: Burneson Construction Project Readying for Winter

Roof going on, windows going in

Current Lee Burneson Middle School students will always be a part of the new Lee Burneson Middle School, although their contribution won't be visible.

Students and staff signed their names to the final roof beam put up.

In a recent tour of the construction project, Dave Puffer, supervisor of construction projects for Westlake City Schools, showed how the work is beginning to move indoors.

After the school emerged unscathed from Superstorm Sandy, the push has continued to be to get the interior as enclosed as possible so work there can be done free from the elements. With the roof work almost done, windows are being installed. A temporary front entry wall and door has been built for materials to come in that way.

The project remains on track to be finished in the spring, Puffer said. If all goes well once school lets out at the end of May, the move to the new school can be completed and the old one ready to be a new intermediate school -- which will be called Dover Intermediate School -- in time for the start of the 2013-14 school year.
