Get ready to whet your appetite, Westlake.  The 5th Annual Taste of Westlake is coming.

On April 18, Citizens for Westlake Schools, a community action committee formed to promote and support the Excellence of Westlake Schools, will present The 5th Taste of Westlake at LaCentre in Westlake.

“Each participating restaurant provides ample appetizers for guests to try. From these appetizer bites to sweet treats for dessert, The Taste of Westlake is an event to enjoy and mingle with fellow community members,” publicity chair Megan Moutoux said in a press release.

Guests will be entertained by guitarist Jeff Varga.

“All the proceeds from the event help fund our campaign efforts for the upcoming May Operating Levy,” Taste of Westlake chair Christie Wiedt said. “We currently have 24 restaurants that have agreed to participate. Citizens for Westlake schools appreciates the generosity of their time, wonderful food and ongoing support of the Westlake City Schools.”

Issue 16 will be on the May 7 ballot.

The festivities will begin at 6:30 pm with samples of hearty fare from over 24 Westlake restaurants.  In 2010, more than 700 people attended.

“This not a sit down event but rather a grazing and socializing event,” Wiedt said.

Plenty of supporters have stepped up to help including Moutoux, who is helping with securing restaurants and coordinating volunteers for the evening. Chris Sutcliffe is the ticket coordinator and Cathy Axcell is the Campaign Chairperson.

Tickets are on sale now for $30. For more information, or to purchase tickets, please visit www.westlakelevy.com, or contact Christie Wiedt, Taste Of Westlake Chairperson, at christiesbn@aol.com.
