Tom Patton Elected Majority Floor Leader

State senator starts second term in office

 

State Sen. Tom Patton, R–Strongsville, was officially sworn in for his second term as senator for the 24th District during opening ceremonies for the 130th General Assembly Jan. 7.

In addition, his colleagues elected him for a second time to serve in the chamber’s No. 3 post, Majority Floor Leader.

Patton was first elected to the Ohio Senate in 2008 after serving three terms in the Ohio House of Representatives. 

“Over the past two years, we have been diligent in establishing Ohio as a jobs and business-friendly state,” Patton said in a news release. “By eliminating our deficit, drastically reducing regulations and reducing Ohioans’ income taxes, we have seen the state’s unemployment rating plummet more than two percent."

Patton also serves as co-chair of the Ohio Senate Autism Caucus and as a member of the Ohio Turnpike Commission, the Ohio Athletic Commission, the Ohio Rail Development Commission, the Midwest Interstate Passenger Rail Compact and the ODOT Transportation Futures Steering Committee.
