Postcards Remind Voters of Procedure to Vote by Mail

The March 6 primary will be the second time since 2006 that voters will not automatically be sent applications to vote by mail. So the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections is sending out almost 700,000 postcards to remind voters they need to ask for a ballot.

"Requesting a ballot application is still something new for voters," said Jane Platten, director of the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections.

The 682,689 postcards have instructions on how to apply to vote by mail. Ballot applications are available online at the Board of Elections website, in person at public libraries or can be requested by calling 216-443-3298.

Postcards are being mailed starting today. They also contain information about new political boundaries for County Council, state legislative, and congressional districts. The postcard lists the voter’s ward, precinct, voting location, and additional political district information.
