Community Meeting Tonight to Discuss Water Issue

City official will hold an informational meeting on Wednesday.

Mayor Dennis Clough announced there will be a community informational meeting for residents and business owners on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Westlake Recreation Center to discuss the issue of Westlake potentially changing water suppliers from Cleveland Water. The city has been in discussions with Avon Lake Municipal Utilities to supply water to Westlake for several years.

At the meeting, Clough said the community would be get a firsthand look at the actions that the city has taken over the past several years.

The meeting comes after Cleveland Water, which currently provides water to Westlake, sent a letter to Westlake residents saying Westlake had terminated their agreement and a surcharge of $291 per quarter, at the minimum, could be levied against homeowners and businesses starting January of 2014.
