Hurricane Sandy: Westlake Storm, Power Outage Updates

The number of power outages is beginning to drop, but full repairs could take all week.

At about 4:15 p.m., the number of customers without power in Westlake had dropped to about 7,000, according to FirstEnergy.

About .

Mark Durbin, spokesperson for FirstEnergy, spoke with Beachwood Patch Editor Nikki Ferrell Tuesday afternoon.

Durbin said the power should be repaired for most customers by the end of the week, but some areas may not see repairs until the weekend. Customers west of Interstate 77 and those near the lake will probably see the longest delays.

The roads haven’t improved much throughout the day. Westlake Police said that not much had changed in terms of major roadblocks since 10:20 a.m. on Tuesday. Police encouraged drivers to use caution and to treat the many intersections where traffic lights are still out like four-way stops.

The city has rescheduled Wednesday’s trick or treat for Sunday evening, and two of the district’s schools will remain closed on Wednesday.
