GetGo Changes Win Approval

made some changes and got its development plan for the proposed new GetGo at the northeast corner of the intersection of Center Ridge and Columbia Roads approved by the planning commission Monday night.

Among the changes are adding a sidewalk from Center Ridge Road to the front of the building, reduced glare from lighting, and taller evergreens planted closer together behind the building to profide a more solid buffer for Columbia Road and Arthur Avenue residents north of the property.

Giant Eagle originally proposed to build a six-foot white PVC fence along the length of the back of the property, but agreed to install an eight-foot fence instead.

Ward 2 councilman James Connole was pleased wth the changes.

"We appreciate the extra buffering," he said. "The trees are a significant improvement."

One resident expressed concern that the retention basin was not enough to contend with runoff and that neighbors' homes would flood. He was told that the city engineer's office could address his questions.

The GetGo will sit on 1.5 acres. The building will be 5,583 square feet and have 16 pumps.
