Detroit-Dover Center Work Should Be Done Friday

Asphalt is being replaced, city engineer said

Repair work at the Detroit Road-Dover Center Road intersection should be completed by the end of the day Friday, Bob Kelly said Friday morning.

The asphalt top coat in one area is being replaced because it wasn't mixed properly before it was applied last year, Kelly said.

"We noticed it last year, then observed it over the winter," Kelly said. "That's when we decided it had to be fixed."

Asphalt that isn't thoroughly mixed won't last as long and will break down sooner, Kelly said.

General contractor Great Lakes Crushing is paying for the work, Kelly added.
