County Starts Night Court for Property Value Disputes

Residents can bring forward complaints on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Cuyahoga County residents will be able to dispute property values in Night Court.

For the first time, the county Boards of Revision will be conducting hearings on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the next month. Two boards will hear 14 complaints each night starting at 5:30 p.m.

“For people working hard to make ends meet, it can be a real sacrifice to take time off work to come downtown and be heard,” said County Executive Ed FitzGerald said in a written statement. “Hopefully, by offering ‘night court’ at the Boards of Revision, we can make this process a little bit easier for people.”

The county has seven boards of revision to hear complaints about property values. Owners may dispute their own property values or the value of neighbors’ properties.

Complaints are due March 31 for the preceeding tax year. For more information, visit the board website.
