1) The Westlake Memorial Day parade will step off at at 10 a.m. and proceed to . The parade will have the traditional taps and echo, lots of local groups and organizations, and plenty of patriotic music from the band.

2) A Memorial Day observance will follow the parade at Clague Park. Maj. Gen. Fred Lick, Jr. will be the cerenony's guest speaker. Lick served in the Far East command of the U.S. Army and later joined the Ohio Military Reserve where he was named Commander of the reserve.

As part of the ceremony, the Bay Village Post 385 American Legion will give a gun salute and the Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops will place the memorial wreath. The ceremony will also honor fallen soldiers from the Westlake or Dover area who died in the Vietnam War, World War II, Civil War or other active duty.

3) Lots of local stores are putting on the traditional Memorial Day sale today, including Chico's, Border's, White House Black Market, Eddie Bauer, Ace Hardware, Express Men and Express. It might be a good weekend to spruce up your summer wardrobe or stock up on home repair equipment!
